The Petunia Tumbelina® Priscilla, like all its Tumbelina® series siblings, displays a both upright and cascading habit that remains impeccable even in the rain and works wonders in hanging baskets or large flower pots. It produces, from summer to autumn, large double flowers in a soft blue-mauve colour finely veined with violet, certainly delightful, but also gently scented. This annual plant is as generous as it is easy to cultivate in the sun in fertile and moist soil.
Hybrid petunias all originate from several plants native to the warm regions of South America. Serendipity led to trailing petunias, when a scientist noticed in 1989, at the edge of a field, a particularly vigorous wild petunia covered with bright flowers: the Petunia inflata. Crossed with others, this species gave birth to trailing petunias, which were named Surfinias for marketing. The Tumbelina® series, developed in England, adds a pleasant touch of fragrance to the vigour and colours of this plant.
The trailing petunia 'Tumbelina Priscilla' belongs to the Solanaceae family, it is close to the ornamental tobacco, for example, its foliage also contains alkaloids. This plant quickly forms a dense and spreading clump, wider than tall, 30 cm (11.8 in) tall by 50 cm (19.7 in) in diameter, or even more depending on the growing conditions. It produces hundreds of flowers from June until the first nighttime frosts, provided it is regularly fertilised. The flowers measure about 8 cm (3.1 in) in diameter, they are lavender blue, with fine violet veins that converge towards a dark violet throat. Their floral scent is more noticeable at the end of the day. The foliage, quite hairy, has entire edges and a dark green colour.
No other flowering annual plant has been subjected by breeders to such in-depth selection work for over a century. The results are impressive, as petunias rival geraniums in splendour and length of flowering, as evidenced by this variety 'Tumbelina Priscilla'. Place it in large flower pots or hanging baskets, above walls, wherever its flowering stems can hang down. 5 identical or mixed colour plants are enough to fill a large flower container. You can also plant them in large patches, to punctuate borders of plants with grey foliage such as cerastium or artemisia, or cover the base of roses.
Green plants from 4 to 8cm (3.1 in) in cases of 5 small plugs with a diameter of 2.8 cm (0.8 in) and a height of 4 cm (1.6 in). Our plants are at least eight weeks old and are strong enough to be planted in open ground.
Note: Attention, our young plants in mini-plugs are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelter (veranda, greenhouse, frame...) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Botanical data
You can plant your Tumbelina Priscilla petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed (surfinia petunias can tolerate a small late frost). In the meantime, you can pre-cultivate them in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. The Petunias will flower from June to October. Plant your Tumbelina Priscilla petunias in a sunny or partially shaded spot, sheltered from the wind. They need a light and humus-bearing soil, but above all, well-draining. Do not water them too much at the beginning of their growth as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during hot summer temperatures. Petunias are susceptible to frost (minimum -1°). Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid fertiliser for surfinias once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking beautiful and extend the flowering period.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
