The plug plants were planted very quickly after reception. In rows in a flower bed and a few isolated plants to highlight certain areas in the garden. The tapetum has been splendid even under the snow; it is still magnificent = over 3 months of continuous flowering! It's beautiful.

Description

The Viola cornuta 'F1 Butterfly Rose White Face' is a beautiful novelty, offering an abundance of flowers of pure pink, illuminated by a white centre and a yellow heart, adorned with fine short black whiskers. The plants are floriferous, vigorous and branching and remain compact over time. These easy-to-grow biennials allow for charming borders and opulent pots. Horned violets are cultivated in humus-rich soil, in partial shade or dappled sunlight.

Belonging to the violet family, the horned violet, which grows wild in the Pyrenees, is a low perennial plant that has given rise to many hybrids. Often crossed with the Viola tricolor (wild pansy), their most famous descendants are horticultural pansies. The 'Butterfly Rose White Face' variety is a bushy and creeping herbaceous plant 10 to 15 cm (5.9 in) tall when in bloom, with dark green, persistent, ovate and crenate leaves, forming a spreading tuft. It is covered with flowers from spring to autumn. Its pure pink flowers show a more or less large white throat, punctuated with bright yellow in the centre, and populated with black stripes. They resemble those of small pansies but the petals are arranged differently: the top two are erect, the other three are inclined downwards. The plant spreads quite quickly thanks to its rhizomes and also self-seeds very easily in the garden, not always faithfully.

Horned violets are intended for low flowerbeds and borders, as well as pots and balconies, where they will combine well with other spring and summer flowering plants (Forget-me-nots, Dwarf daffodils, Daisies, Primroses, Botanical tulips, summer and autumn asters, etc.). The flowers of horned violets are edible, so don't hesitate to decorate your plates with a few or even to add to salads for a touch of colour.

Please note that our young plants in mini-plugs are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant them as soon as possible into pots, or directly into flower beds.

Planting and care

Horned violets appreciate a light, humus-rich soil, moist but well-drained as they do not like excessive moisture in winter. In heavy soil, add a little sand to improve drainage.

Plant horned violets in a sunny but not scorching location or under light shade.

Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry plants. Feed them with a liquid fertiliser for containers once or twice a week during the growing season. Water regularly but not excessively. Remove faded flowers to promote new blooms.
