This clematis initially grew rather late, then grew well and bloomed with beautiful and curious flowers. I was looking forward to spring with hope, but it doesn't seem to have survived the winter, which was nonetheless mild here.

Description
The Saphyra Indigo clematis is a small climbing plant that can be used in pots or in open ground near old walls, trellises, fences.
This beautiful clematis stands out from the others with its abundant medium-sized flowers in indigo blue with dark violet stamens. The flowering lasts from June to September. This climbing plant can reach 1.50 to 2 m (5 to 7ft) so it has a medium development for a spread of 60 cm (24in).
The clematis thrives on old walls, fences, and trees, but this small vine will also adorn your balconies and terraces, so it is a plant that also has its place in a pot. It is a hardy plant that likes coolness, so we recommend putting a good layer of bark.
Its worst enemy is excess water: it needs to be watered regularly but a little at a time. This clematis can be planted in full sun or partial shade while keeping its base cool.
Our advice: pair it with artemisia or white gaura planted at the base.

In a sunny location, shade the base of your plant with a ground cover like a perennial geranium. Clematis plants like to have their feet kept cool. Plant your young plant by covering the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, in soil that has been worked to a depth of 20 cm (8in), enriched with good compost. During the first few weeks, water abundantly and regularly. Clematis plants will cling on their own thanks to their tendrils. To promote their growth, provide them with a trellis support or let them dress the trunk of a tree by placing a wire mesh around it. Clematis plants also like to grow freely on neighbouring plants. We advise against overwatering, as it can cause fungus at the base of the clematis plant.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
