This traditional dandelion weeder with an 80cm (32in) T-shaped ash handle is equipped with a spiralled head, ideal for uprooting without breaking the taproots of many 'weeds' by a single rotating motion. Its head is hand-forged from boron steel, easily penetrating even heavy soils.

This traditional dandelion weeder from De Pypere, equipped with an ash wood handle, is both effective with its spiralled head and ergonomic with its T-shaped handle. With a simple twisting motion, the spiral sinks into the soil and removes all types of taproots, even in heavy and compacted soil. Its head is hand-forged from steel with a boron steel finish. It is a durable and resistant, well-made tool that will last for many years.

Dimensions: spiral-shaped head: 12cm (5in) in length x 4cm (2in) in diameter - Handle length: 80cm (32in) (suitable for shorter individuals)

The dandelion weeder is an essential tool for successfully extracting taproots, which are deeply anchored in the soil and difficult to remove without breaking. These are long, relatively narrow and tapered roots that penetrate vertically and deeply into the soil, from which finer lateral roots grow. They can be found, for example, in carrots, parsnips, and oak trees, as well as in many 'weeds' such as dandelions, plantains, thistles, sowthistles, or dock leaves. To eradicate these types of plants, it is necessary to remove at least the first 5-7 centimetres (2-3 inches) of the root along with the leaf rosette. Generally, leaving a small portion of the root deep in the soil will still prevent the undesirable plant from surviving. The spiral-shaped dandelion weeder sinks into the soil at the base of the plant, while turning and applying pressure on the handle. The spiral descends around the root and cuts the rootlets, leaving only the task of pulling it out of the soil.

This model consists of a natural ash wood handle, known for its hardness, with a socket where the forged head is attached. The head is made of tempered steel, resistant to shocks, torsion, and corrosion thanks to the boron steel finish. The short, T-shaped handle allows for leverage to sink the head into the soil while rotating it. The handle is compostable, and the metal head is recyclable.

The traditional De Pypere range includes high-quality tools, all made of forged steel and equipped with ash wood handles. The tempered boron steel coating on the blades is very hard and resistant, making it a valuable material for tools that can be heavily used in the garden.

This tool is under warranty. The warranty does not cover handles or grips, only the metal parts (excluding consumables such as screws, springs, etc.) and within the scope of normal use.

Directions for use The dandelion weeder is an essential tool for successfully extracting taproots, which are deeply anchored in the soil and difficult to pull out without breaking them. They are found in many 'weeds' such as dandelions, plantains, thistles, sow thistles, comfrey, wild chervil, celandine, purslane and dock. To destroy this type of plant, it is necessary to remove at least the first 5-7 centimetres (2-3 inches) of the root along with the leaf rosette. Work after rain or watering, as moistened soil will be easier to weed. It is also better to intervene on young plants, whose roots will be less developed and have not had time to reseed. Insert the dandelion weeder into the soil at the base of the plant (at the base of the leaves, at ground level), by turning and pressing on the handle at the same time, as if using a corkscrew. The spiral descends all around the root and cuts the rootlets, then pull everything out of the soil.
