This small traditional beak with an ash handle ending in a T, with its 3-tooth spork-shaped head, is ideal for removing weeds while pushing. Combining the action of the beak and the fork, it excels in harder soils. Its head is hand-forged from boron steel.

This small traditional spork-shaped De Pypere shovel equipped with a short handle made of ash wood with a T-shaped grip has a "spoon-fork" shaped head with 3 sharpened tines, very effective for working the soil. It is a powerful garden tool that combines the advantages of a shovel and a fork, and is very well suited for working the hardest soils. It is effective for removing weeds that grow between plants, and facilitates aeration and superficial loosening. Its blade is hand-forged in steel, with a boron steel finish. Durable and resistant, it is a well-crafted tool that will accompany the gardener for many years.

Dimensions: head of 17 x 11cm (4in) - handle length: 40cm

The shovel/hoe is a versatile and practical tool, designed both for weeding without using chemicals and for working the soil on the surface, up to a depth of about 15cm (6in). This spork-shaped model is suitable for loose and light soils as well as heavier soils that are difficult to work. Hoeing has been part of the gardener's vocabulary since the Middle Ages, with hoeing meaning "doing twice". After digging to uproot the weeds, the gardener uses the hoe for the second time to loosen and break up the superficial layer of soil. This aerates the soil around the cultivated plants in the vegetable garden or ornamental garden. According to the old saying, "hoeing is worth two waterings": indeed, under the action of watering or rain, clayey or loamy soil tends to harden when drying, forming what is called a compacted crust that is very difficult to rehydrate and suffocating for plants, and also promotes the upward movement of water and its evaporation. Breaking up this crust after watering limits water evaporation. The spork-shaped shovel consists of a handle made of natural ash wood, known for its hardness, with a metal socket where the forged head is attached, made of tempered steel that is resistant to shocks, torsion, and corrosion. The handle, ending with a T, allows for leverage to drive the head into the soil while rotating it.  With its short handle, this model is well suited for squatting or kneeling work. The handle is compostable, and the metal head is recyclable. The word 'spork' is an Anglicism, it refers to a utensil that has the shape of a spoon, like a shovel, with the pointed ends of a fork.

The traditional De Pypere range includes high-quality tools, all made of forged steel, equipped with ash wood handles. The tempered boron steel that covers the blades is very hard and very resistant, making it a valuable material for tools that can be heavily used in the garden.

This tool is under warranty. The warranty does not apply to handles or grips, only to the metal parts except consumables (screws, springs, etc) and within the scope of normal use.

Directions for use The spade/hoe is an essential tool, designed both for weeding the vegetable garden or ornamental garden without resorting to the use of chemicals and for working the soil on the surface, up to about 15cm (6in) deep. This tool allows both digging and hoeing, to loosen, aerate and refine the top layer of soil. The handle, terminated by a T, allows for support to push the head into the ground, while rotating it. According to the old saying, "hoeing is worth two waterings": indeed, under the action of watering or rain, a clayey or loamy soil tends to harden when drying, forming what is called a compaction crust that is very difficult to rehydrate and suffocating for plants. Compacted soil also promotes the rise of water to the surface and its evaporation. By preventing the formation of this crust after watering, water evaporation is limited.
