Description

The perennial Geranium Buxton's Variety  is one of the parents of the famous Geranium 'Rozanne'.

This perennial geranium has remarkable blue flowers with white markings in the centre, measuring 3cm (1in) in diameter. It forms large areas of groundcover, of apple green leaves slightly spotted with darker green in the centre.

Hardy, it withstands cold weather but appreciates sunny locations with well-draining soil, without waterlogging in winter.

Planting and care

To plant Geranium wallichianum Buxton's Variety, prepare the soil to a depth of 20 cubic cm, crumbling the soil well.  Add a fertiliser to the base of the hole such as bonemeal.  Position your plant, removed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. In dry weather, it will be necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to help the plant to establish.
