Description

This plant owes its common name to its American origin and the fact that each flower lasts only a short time, much like the daylily. However, this overlooks the very long flowering period. It is true that each flower lasts only a short time, but they succeed each other for 4 months, sometimes more, if you trim the clumps a little during the season. The young plant is vigorous and quickly forms beautiful clumps. The lanceolate foliage resembles that of an iris. The curious flowers have 3 petals and come in various colours depending on the variety.

Very vigorous variety with large grouped, beautiful dark violet-blue flowers.

Planting and care

This plant likes moist or damp soil, even clayey and heavy soil will be fine, or any garden soil as long as it is not too dry in summer and tolerates full sun if there is no lack of moisture. In our garden, we grow it on the stream bank and in the rose garden, the white garden, the pink garden... In fact, everywhere it is needed because it is so easy to grow.
