The 'Havanna' Rose is a landscape rose with a natural habit adorned throughout the season with an abundant and brilliant purple-red flowering enhanced with gold. Its small, well-opened flowers offer pollinating insects a beautiful crown of stamens. They are gathered in clusters and perfectly highlighted by shiny and healthy foliage for 5 to 6 months. A worry-free rose is ideal for setting the scene in a small garden, in large borders or beds, and on the terrace or balcony.
The 'Havanna' rose is a German creation from the Baumschule Heinje dating back to 2022. Landscape roses offer abundant and regular flowering that attracts pollinators throughout the beautiful season. The flowers of the Havanna rose, gathered in terminal clusters, come from the polyantha rose, an old hybrid derived from Rosa multiflora and R. chinensis. They are slightly fragrant. It is a variety with exceptional natural resistance to diseases and parasites, an almost permanent decorative effect and dense vegetation. The plant will reach a height of about 80 cm (32in) in a few years, with a minimum spread of 70 cm (28in). The 5- 7 cm (2- 3in) flowers are formed by 7- 14 undulate petals arranged in well-opened cups. Their colour is a fairly deep but vibrant red with a golden shade at the base. Their fragrance is light and pleasant. This variety develops bright green and shiny foliage, sometimes tinged with purple during the bud burst period.
Adopting the 'Havanna' rose also means adopting a slightly ecological approach, in which phytosanitary treatments are banned while benefiting from a plant with attractive aesthetics sought by bees. This rose adapts to all soils that are not too dry and all climates, which allows it to be welcomed without reservation from the north to the south of our country, even in the mountains. For example, it can be planted in masses, on a large slope, in the company of grey foliage plants (Stachys lanata, Artemisia nana, Cerastium tomentosum...). It will work wonders when planted along a path, in front of a large bed, or on either side of the garden entrance. It also has a place on a sunny terrace, where it can keep company with summer annuals (Lobelia, Nemesia, foliage ipomoeas...).

Botanical data
Landscape roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 hours of sunlight per day) but sheltered from the scorching midday sun and strong winds. They appreciate loose, permeable, and humus-rich soils. They prefer slightly acidic soil but will adapt to any garden as long as it is well-worked and sufficiently fertile. To plant your rose in a pot, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), crumbling the soil and adding a bottom amendment such as blood, fish and bone. Position your plant, removed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, backfill and water thoroughly to eliminate air pockets. Regular watering is necessary for a few weeks during dry weather to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to provide your rose with a special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering.
Roses in late summer may appear stained or unsightly, but it doesn't affect their growth. These marks are natural and harmless to the roses.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
