Description

The 'Lavender Dream' bush rose blooms abundantly in June and August. The roses offer a dense flowering, despite a nearly single corolla, as they are in clusters. The lilac-pink petals washed with mauve emit a light and unusual fragrance reminiscent of lilies of the valley.

This vigorous and disease-resistant bush rose adapts well to both sunny and semi-shaded locations. The shape and colour of these roses will bring a touch of rustic charm to your garden. Don't hesitate to combine it with perennials or even other roses. Of course, alongside lavender, it will have a beautiful effect, but the 'Golden Wings' rose would also be a good partner. The two colours will give the mix an interesting freshness.

'Lavender Dream' is highly appreciated by impatient gardeners, as the bush quickly offers beautiful and spectacular blooms. However, to enjoy its roses for as long as possible, it is important to remove faded flowers to promote the development of new buds. However, a small break should be expected in July.

Obtained by G. Peter Ilsink in 1984.

Planting and care

Plant your 'Lavender Dream' rose in well-ventilated areas, avoiding confined spaces. Roses are tolerant but do not like excessive limestone. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well cultivated and rich enough. This rose is not susceptible to diseases, but if you notice spotted or affected leaves, remove them immediately. To plant your rose, work the soil by crumbling it and place an amendment at the bottom of the planting hole, such as dried blood or dehydrated horn. Water generously after planting to get rid of air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Pruning 'Lavender Dream' involves reshaping and aerating the natural bushy habit of the rose. Alternate between severe pruning and light pruning every other year. To prune, choose an outward-facing bud and make a slanted cut just above it. Take this opportunity to remove dead wood and unsightly branches.

Roses are often spotted or unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
