Rosa Pullman Orient Express has many assets to seduce lovers of extraordinary yet easy-to-grow roses. This gorgeous rose has received the highest distinction in the USA. It bears immense two-tone flowers with an unlikely combination of pink and yellow that captures the attention in the garden. The elegantly shaped double roses display a canary-yellow heart surrounded by wide petals edged with Bengal pink. This pink hue is more pronounced towards the outskirts of the corolla. The slightly scented flowering takes place from June to October, on a healthy bush with a harmonious habit. This beautiful creation deserves a prominent place in the garden.
Rosa Pullman Orient Express is a modern shrub rose related to hybrid tea roses, introduced in France in 2002 by Meilland. At first glance, one can recognise the traits of the famous variety Mme A. Meilland ('Peace') on its rose. The awards obtained by this rose are prestigious: the AARS* in the USA in 2002, the Rose d'Or in Baden-Baden, and the RHS Award of Garden Merit in England. This small rose with a bushy, well-balanced, and upright habit reaches about 85cm (34in) in height and 60cm (24in) in width at maturity. It has a rapid growth rate. It produces sturdy branches that bear elegant, semi-matte, dark green foliage. The leaves are disease-resistant. It will bloom throughout summer if faded flowers are removed. It bears immense modern-type flowers, composed of 45 petals, measuring 14cm (6in) in diameter. They open in perfectly formed globular and turbinate cups. They are solitary, borne at the end of long shoots from the current year or emerging on 2-year-old stems. The repeat-flowering is distinguished by a light but pleasant, fruity and fresh scent of Tea rose.
Rosa Pullman Orient Express is ideal when planted alone in a well-maintained small garden, as it appreciates having space around it. It is also perfect for use in large monochrome borders, as its very rich colour can be difficult to match. For example, it can be planted with white or orange Phlox paniculata, as well as the dark foliage of boxwood, Distylium 'Blue Cascade', cotoneaster, or the tall spikes of false lupins (Baptisia 'Purple Smoke' and B. australis 'Alba' in a blue and white harmony). The cut flowers are naturally perfect in bouquets.
* The highest award granted by the A.R.S: American Rose Society.

Botanical data
Plant in a sunny or lightly shaded location. Modern roses are tolerant, but do not appreciate excessive limestone or acidity. They will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked, not too heavy, and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose, work the soil by crumbling it and add fertiliser to the bottom of the planting hole (dried blood or dehydrated horn, for example). Water generously after planting to remove any air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth.
Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but this will not hinder their development. These spots are a natural phenomenon and will not harm the rose.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
