The Larissa rose, like all the varieties of the Urban Streetlight collection, is an excellent groundcover rose. With its clusters of double flowers in porcelain pink and white, they give the flowerbeds the pleasant look of a sweetshop window. These roses fall on their own once faded, leaving the flowerbed with a neat appearance throughout the flowering season. Larissa also has gorgeous foliage that is completely disease-free.
The Larissa Rose is a German creation by Kordes, introduced to the market in 2008, and distinguished by the highly selective German label A.D.R* in the year of its launch. It is part of a series of roses developed in partnership with 'Globe Planter', the 'Urban Streetlight', bringing together varieties selected for their disease resistance, robustness, and ability to bloom enthusiastically without requiring much maintenance. These plants are widely used in urban landscaping.
This 'Larissa' variety belongs to the floribunda rose family, with flowers grouped in clusters. It falls within the category of groundcover roses due to its low and spreading habit. It quickly forms a very dense vegetation dome, with a height of about 50 cm (20in) and a spread of 80 cm (32in). Its thorny stems are covered with decorative foliage, a beautiful glossy dark green colour, with finely toothed leaflets along the edges. Its flowering, particularly abundant in June, regularly repeats until October if the soil remains slightly moist in summer. Its very double corollas, 5 cm (2in) in diameter, form flat cups and are grouped in clusters. Their colour is pink in the centre, with white-pink on the outside. The deciduous foliage turns yellow before falling off in autumn.
The groundcover rose 'Larissa' adapts to all soils that are not too dry and to all climates, allowing it to be planted in most regions. In warmer regions, place it preferably in the morning sun, while it will bloom best in full sun in cooler areas. It works wonders on a large slope where it will cover the ground, above a low wall, planted along a pathway or at the front of a shrub bed. It can also be planted in groups of 3 plants, arranged in a triangle, as a standalone feature on a lawn. Also, associate it with groundcover roses in pink, yellow, red, or orange flowers to highlight a pathway or the beds of opulent shrubs and perennials. Groundcover roses create beautiful scenes with perennial geraniums, catmints, and perennial salvias. Very easy to pair, this rose will happily accompany shrub roses, regardless of their colour, in a romantic garden.
*ADR® is the label of the German Federation of Rose Breeders. This label is only awarded to varieties that have passed the strictest tests in the world. The plants are tested simultaneously at 10 different locations, in various soil and climate conditions for several years. The tests focus on hardiness, perennial nature, and flowering without the use of any pesticides.

Plant your Urban Streetlight Larissa rose bush in a sunny location. This rose bush is tolerant but won't appreciate an excess of limestone. It will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked and rich enough. To plant your rose bush, work the soil by crumbling it well, you can put an amendment at the bottom of the planting hole, such as bonemeal. Water generously after planting to remove air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to encourage rooting. Pruning isn't necessary for ground cover roses, use it to contain your flower beds or to keep them dwarfed in pots.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
