This Althéa is a deciduous shrub and contrary to what is stated in the above text: there is NO reason to prune this plant in winter. Stop with this unnecessary pruning trend. Plant it in a corner of your garden, taking into account its adult size (2m (7ft) tall by 1.5m (5ft) wide), and admire its magnificent summer flowering. I should clarify that once established (2 years), it withstands drought well and is not afraid of harsh winters. You can plant it anywhere in France and let it thrive.
