Description

Very beautiful and floriferous Hydrangea reaching about 80cm (31.5in) in height that is not afraid of spring frosts as it forms its flower buds late. Its inflorescences are 11cm (4.3in) in diameter and are crimped and tightly packed together, completely covering the plant. Very varied colours from pink, blue to mauve. One of the best plants for a pot. Delivered in a 2-litre pot, worked with 3 to 5 branches, the right size for quick recovery. Use our bluing agent for intense blue.

Height 0.80m (2ft 7in), spreading to 1m (3ft 4in).

Note: The colour of the flowers of Hydrangea macrophylla varies depending on the soil pH. Traditionally blue varieties turn pink in neutral or alkaline soil. To maintain a beautiful blue colour, mix heather soil or blonde peat into your garden soil and apply aluminum sulphate (slate contains it) or alum stone every spring.

Planting and care

Planting: This Hydrangea requires a planting in the sun or partial shade, depending on the moisture of your soil, and a neutral to acidic soil. During planting, place it in deeply worked soil. A good base fertilizer (horn or dried blood) will promote the establishment of your plant and nourish it without the risk of burning. If your soil tends to be dry, mix our water retainer, stockosorb, with the soil when filling the planting hole and provide a watering basin on the surface. In late summer, we advise you not to cut the dry umbels, as they will protect the terminal shoots of the branches in winter. Cut all the dry flowers at the end of February or at the first signs of spring.
