Planting and care

Hydrangea paniculata Silver Dollar thrives in moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil, in full sun or partial shade that is sheltered from cold and drying winds. Before planting, prepare the soil well and use a base fertiliser (blood, fish and bone) to promote growth without the risk of burning. If your soil is dry, mix stockosorb, our water retainer, with the soil when filling the planting hole and provide a watering basin on the surface. Prune the previous year's shoots in spring, leaving only 2 or 3 buds for more abundant flowering. Remove any excess or poorly positioned old wood when buds appear in March. Don't cut off the dry flowers in late summer, as they will protect the terminal shoots of the branches in winter. Cut off all dry flowers at the end of February or at the first signs of spring. Hydrangea paniculata is a drought-resistant shrub that can be planted generously in non-acidic soil and blooms from June until the first frost.

Care

Pruning instructions Towards the end of the winter season, it's recommended to remove the faded flower heads and trim the branches to half their height if necessary. This will help maintain a dense and bushy appearance. As the flowering occurs on the current year's wood, this won't hinder the flowering.
