Crocus Collection - Spring Crocus

This Crocus Collection brings together 50 Mammoth Crocus bulbs known for their early flowering and large flower size. They bloom from March onwards in a beautiful range of purple, highlighted by pretty yellow to orange stamens, and quickly naturalise in short grass meadows and rockeries. Plant them in well-drained soil that is not too dry in summer.

This Crocus Collection includes:

- 25 x Mammoth Crocus PickWick.

- 25 x Flower Record Grand Maître Crocus: between February and March, large cup-shaped flowers with typical violet or lilac petals and golden stamens, carried on short peduncles.

Crocuses are undisputed stars, as they are the first smiles of spring. The robust 'mammoth' varieties flower after those of Crocus chrysanthus, for example. By combining them with other later flowering crocus varieties such as 'Vanguard', you can extend the flowering period for several weeks. When planted in large groups, crocuses form magnificent carpets of colour in lawns, along paths, and awaken rockeries. They also grow very well in pots or containers, to brighten up balconies. Crocuses prefer to stay in place where they easily naturalise and increase in size year after year. It is important not to remove the leaves before they have withered, as they help the bulb replenish its reserves after flowering. There are also crocuses that flower in autumn, such as saffron or colchicums, which are equally charming and easy to grow. The Sternbergia lutea, on the other hand, is a small bulbous plant that grows spontaneously in the southeast of our country and resembles a golden yellow crocus, but blooms in September, along with colchicums.
