Description

Corydalis solida is a fairly common perennial bulbous plant native to northern Europe and Asia. This plant has good hardiness and produces compact, upright clusters of numerous flowers in spring, measuring 1 to 2cm (1in) in length. The flowers are deep pink with a slender, downward-curved spur and lobed bracts. The flowers are densely arranged in spikes at the top of an upright stem.

This herbaceous plant, also known as Corydalis halleri, has leaves that are divided into 3 narrow, ovate segments. These grey-green leaves measure 5 to 8cm (2 to 3in) in length. Corydalis solida reaches a height of 15cm (6in) at maturity, with a width of 20 to 25cm (8 to 10in). It produces elongated capsule-like silique fruits.

Corydalis solida is hermaphroditic and entomogamous (pollinated by insects). It grows in mountain and subalpine meadows. It is found in deciduous woods, hedges, orchards, vineyards, meadows, and along riverbanks. It adapts particularly well under trees and bushes.
