Wonderful tulips! Perfect combination of colours. Long and sturdy stems. But I didn't have enough, I will get more in the autumn.

Description

Here is a bold cocktail of 45 spring-flowering bulbs that dares to combine different shades of mauve, lilac, lavender, purple, and violet with vibrant salmon pink and mandarin orange.

This Collection consists of:

10 Lily-flowered Tulips Ballerina, 45 cm (18in) tall, with slender, bright orange, lightly scented flowers, in late April.

10 Triumph Tulips Négrita, 45 cm (18in) tall, in shades of dark blue-violet. It blooms in April-May.

10 Triumph Tulips Magic Lavender, 45-50 cm (18-20in) tall, with flowers ranging from lavender blue to mauve, in late April-early May.

10 Late Single Tulips Dordogne, the tallest, reaching 65 cm (26in) from the ground, with a lovely classic flower in vibrant salmon pink, edged with mandarin orange, in May-June.

5 Allium aflatunense Purple Sensation, a decorative allium that grows 70 cm (28in) tall and stands out with its 10 cm (4in) diameter flower heads in violet-purple, in May-June.

These bulbs are labelled separately.

Their flowers, standing 45 to 70 cm (18 to 28in) tall, bloom from the end of April to June, offering almost three months of blooms in spring beds.

Plant them in autumn, in a well-drained soil and sunny position, in groups for desired effect. They can be planted in a carpet of hostas or silver baskets, for example. Also pair them with daffodils, jonquils, hyacinths, Corsican hellebores, and euphorbias for stunning displays.  They can also be planted in borders, rockeries, flower beds, as well as in pots and containers. The flowers of tulips and alliums also add elegance to bouquets.

Planting and care

For tulips:

Plant your bulbs as soon as possible in a well-drained soil. Loosen the soil deeply. Plant at a depth of 10 cm (4in) (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs a few cm apart, making sure they do not touch each other. Choose a sunny location for better flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stems and let the leaves dry completely before cutting them.

For alliums:

These are easy-to-grow plants. Plant them preferably before the end of October so they have time to establish well. They dislike moisture and very wet soils in winter. Give them a sunny spot in a well-drained soil, even rocky. Plant them at a depth of 10 or 15 cm (4 or 6in), spaced 15 cm (6in) apart for larger ones. Plant them at a depth of 10 cm (4in), spaced 7 cm (3in) apart for smaller bulbs. Not demanding, they prefer poor soils.
