Description

The bulb of multi-flowered Tulip 'Rosy Bouquet' produces 3 to 7 classic-shaped, bi-coloured flowers which are white variegated with cherry pink. Its main stem branches out into secondary stems, each carrying a flower. It blooms in the middle of the tulip season, in the heart of spring. The whole forms a fresh bouquet with a very natural appearance, far from the rigid habit that some tulips can have. It is perfect in bouquets, borders, flower beds, and containers.

Multi-flowered Tulip 'Rosy Bouquet' belongs to the lily family. Horticultural, multi-flowered tulips have a branched floral stem that gives rise to several smaller-sized flowers perched on tall stems 45 cm (18in) high, well above the broadly lanceolate leaves. The elegant, white flowers are widely edged with fresh pink, with petals variegated or spotted with pink. They start as narrow cups and open up into wide corollas, with six tepals with paler pink variegation on the inside. They flower in April, in the heart of the tulip season.

The multi-flowered Tulip 'Rosy Bouquet' finds a place in all sunny flower beds. Its fresh colours allow for combinations with tulips in white or red tones, creating a beautiful harmony. Mix it with daffodils, jonquils, hyacinths or Corsican hellebores, lady's mantle and euphorbias, and you will achieve stunning scenes. It can also be planted in borders, rockeries, flower beds, pots and containers. This tulip beautifully decorates balconies and terraces. It pairs perfectly with tall perennials like peonies, and it is ideal for creating elegant bouquets. Only use a little water in the vase, just a covering at the bottom is enough! If your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase every day.

Planting and care

Plant 'Rosy Bouquet' tulip bulbs in autumn, from September to December, at a depth of 15 cm (6in), and 10 cm (4in) apart in ordinary, slightly acidic, neutral, or slightly alkaline, loose, well-worked, and well-drained soil. Never add manure or poorly decomposed compost to the planting soil, as this could cause the bulbs to rot. Tulips will thrive in soil which is moist to dry in summer. Plant them in a sunny or partially shaded location. After flowering, it is advisable to remove the seed heads to avoid depleting the plant.
