Hello, very satisfied with the seeds and dahlias, however very dissatisfied with the delivery dates.. The first delivery date falls on a Sunday!! As I didn't receive any new date, I sent an email and then I was told that some seeds were missing, so the delivery was postponed and finally I received another email saying that the delivery would be on Friday. I went to pick up my package on purpose on Saturday noon and there was no package (10 km (6.2mi) for nothing)!!!! It arrived on Saturday afternoon, to sum up, you have very good products but you need to make improvements in other areas.

Description

Dahlia 'Palmares' is a beautiful variety with bicolour pompom flowers in salmon and lilac. They display a stunning honeycomb pattern.

This type of dahlia produces the best blooms for bouquets. The compact balls have a long vase life. Their diameter can reach 7cm (3in).

The salmon and lilac flowers should be picked in the morning, when they are ¾ of their development. They bloom from July until the first frost.

This summer bulb can reach a height of 1m (3ft) and will be perfect in the background of flower beds.

The foliage is deciduous.

It should be planted in ordinary, humus-bearing, well-drained soil. It prefers full sun.

At the first frost, the bulbs should be stored in a dry place, protected from light and frost.

Planting and care

Plant in spring as soon as the last frost has passed. For abundant flowering, plant the tubers in full sun in rich, moist but well-drained soil. Stagnant moisture causes tuber rot. Amend the soil with compost and sand, if necessary. Work the soil deeply and enrich it, for example, with crushed horn or dehydrated blood. Place your tuber and crumble the soil well to fill without air pockets. Cover with about 6cm (2in) of soil. At the end of planting, water once abundantly and then repeat this watering regularly during the first 6 weeks to help with rooting.

Dahlias are sensitive to cold, so they need to be overwintered. Dig the tubers up when the first frost has blackened the foliage. Carefully remove the tubers. Remove as much soil as possible. Let the foliage dry so that the tubers can replenish their reserves. Then cut the stems to 10cm (4in). Spread your bulbs in a box lined with newspaper. Store them in a frost-free, dry, cool, and dark place, such as a garage or attic. In mild regions without frost, or those close to the coast, it is possible to leave them in place. In this case, simply cover the ground with a carpet of leaves or straw for protection.
