Dahlias offer some of the most sought-after cut flowers in floristry. Numerous varieties among the Cactus dahlias, Ball dahlias, Pompom dahlias, Collarette dahlias and Anemone dahlias all produce sturdy stems and long-lasting flowers in a vase, allowing for the creation of diverse bouquets at home, ranging from rustic to grand occasions. Giant dahlias with huge and very double flowers are sublime, like 'Café au Lait', but they sometimes tend to quickly lose their petals. For original and contrasting compositions, choose from Collarette dahlias and Anemone dahlias with medium-sized variegated inflorescences, such as 'Fashion Monger' or 'Bumble Rumble'. Very dense, not exceeding 10 cm, the ball-shaped flowers of Pompom dahlias and Ball dahlias like 'Jowey Winnie', tightly packed, have excellent vase life and are perfect for creating round bouquets. Devilishly romantic, decorative dahlias such as 'Milena Fleur' or 'Silver Years' will form the basis of a refined and elegant composition. Very trendy, cactus-type flowers ('Chat Noir', 'Urchin') have a sleek charm that suits contemporary or naturalistic style bouquets.

To extend the flowering of your dahlias until the end of summer, make bouquets and regularly prune the faded flowers.
