Although one dahlia was missing from the delivery that matched my initial order, the products received are of high quality. The delivery time was respected. The packaging was well done. There was just one dahlia missing, which was subject to a second delivery at no additional cost following my complaint. On the occasion of this first order placed, Promesse de Fleurs appears to me as a serious company and concerned about the satisfaction of its customers. Thank you!

Description

The Dahlia 'Genova' is a variety of pompom dahlia with light pink flowers bordered with purple that blooms from July to October.

This perennial has swollen tubercular roots. Gathered in bundles, these tubers give rise to upright, hollow and ramified stems, bearing compound leaves with rounded leaflets. Sturdy, fleshy 70 cm (28in) tall stems are topped with wide, flattened, rather incurved, 8 cm (3in) in diameter, pink flowers.

The Dahlia 'Genova' thrives in rich, clayey but well-drained soil, deeply worked in a warm and sunny location, sheltered from prevailing winds. It does not tolerate poor, sandy soils.

The Dahlia 'Genova' is used in mixed flower beds with other varieties or for making bouquets.

Tips: When planting, consider the dimensions for the composition of your flower beds.

Planting and care

Dahlia 'Genova' should be planted from mid-April to early May between 10 and 15cm deep and 60cm apart. Always use stakes and tie the young stems loosely. Apply compost or slow-release organic fertiliser at planting and one liquid fertiliser a month during the growing season. Water without wetting the foliage. There is no need to deadhead this variety. Treat against aphids and slugs. Uproot the tubers before frost, cutting the stems 15cm from the stump. Store in the dark in a cool, well-ventilated place that is not too damp. Transplant in early May when frosts are no longer a threat.
