I'm used to receiving plants, but this one is not a silly little plant, sorry.

Description

Dahlia 'Take Off' is our favourite! It bears beautiful candy pink flowers with a pink and yellow heart. The anemone-like flowers measure 10cm (4in) in diameter.

The small flowers display a row of often irregular outer petals and a prominent double centre.

It is ideal for rockeries and borders, and also works well in pots and planters on patios and balconies.

Planting and care

Plant your dahlias in the spring in deeply worked soil enriched, for example, with crushed horn or dehydrated blood. Place your tuber and crumble the soil well to fill without any air pockets. Your dahlia should be covered with 6 cm (2in) of soil. At the end of planting, pour one litre of water. Protect from slugs! Water regularly during the first 6 weeks to help with rooting. Dahlias are sensitive to cold. They need to be overwintered. In November, the first frost will blacken the foliage, which is the time to dig them up. Carefully unearth the tubers. Remove as much soil as possible. Let the foliage dry so that the tuber can replenish its reserves. When the foliage is dry, cut the stems 10 cm (4in) from the tuber. Spread your bulbs in a box on newspaper. Store in a frost-free, dry, cool, and dark place.
