Description

Planting and care
Caution: Begonia seed is very fine, carefully open the packet on both sides using a pair of scissors.
Sow 'Non-Stop Joy Peaches and Dreams' Tuberous Begonia in February in a seed tray. Use good quality compost mixed with one-third river sand; sieve this mixture on the surface to properly bind the seed to its substrate. Before sowing, lightly firm the substrate using a small board and moisten it slightly, preferably by immersing the base of the tray in a water bath so the water rises by capillary action. Sow your seeds carefully. Do not cover the seeds. Place your tray in the light, without direct sunlight, at a temperature of 25°C to 27°C.
Seed germination will take 15 to 60 days. As soon as the young plants are manageable, transplant them into 7 cm pots. Keep the compost moist, but not excessively so during growth; Water with a very fine spray or using a small hand sprayer. Once the plants are strong enough, transplant them into 15 cm diameter pots or directly into your planters, which you should always keep warm (20-24°C). Finally, 15 days before their final planting out, begin to acclimatise them gradually to a temperature of 15°C.
In late May or early June, the temperature in the garden will be warm enough to install your young plants. Choose a shaded or sunny location. In borders, add a good spadeful of compost to each planting hole. Space your plants 20 to 30 cm apart minimum.
Regularly remove faded flowers to maintain beauty and encourage their renewal.
In autumn, bring the pots indoors and allow the foliage to dry before finally extracting the tubercles from the soil, brushing them and storing them dry until the following spring when they can be replanted in pots.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
