Description
The trailing Begonia BELLECONIA™ CREAM enriches the 'Belleconia' series with its stunning cream-coloured flowers tinged with pink. This variety produces both double and single flowers throughout the growing season. Carried at the ends of slender, trailing stems, the double flowers evoke the grace of water lilies. Its light green leaves take on a more bluish and glossy hue in summer. This trailing begonia works well in hanging baskets and containers, where it displays its naturally graceful habit.
Begonia 'Belleconia Cream' is a herbaceous annual belonging to the Begoniaceae family. Like other members of the 'Belleconia' series, it has been selected for its compact and branching habit, floribundus nature, and ability to withstand varied conditions. This variety reaches approximately 25 cm in height with a spread of 30 cm, quickly forming a cascade of delicate flowers. The majority of the flowers are large and double, while a few are small and single and pleasantly lighten the overall flowering. This variety blooms from mid-spring to early autumn, even under high temperatures or frequent rainfall.
Begonia 'Belleconia Cream' thrives in partial shade or full shade, in rich, evenly moist, well-drained soil. It does not tolerate stagnant water, which could be fatal to its roots. Mulching around the root zone is recommended to maintain soil moisture, especially during hot periods. Water regularly but moderately, and this plant benefits from light feeding to support its long flowering period. The plant naturally sheds its spent flowers, simplifying maintenance. This versatile variety is suitable for hanging baskets, planters, or pots on shaded terraces. It pairs well with light and colourful plants such as annual lobelias, bacopas, or trailing fuchsias like 'Bella Rosella'.
Note: Please be aware that plug plants are products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (conservatory, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C for a few weeks before placing them outdoors once the risk of frost has completely passed.

Plant your Begonia 'Belleconia Cream' after the last heavy frosts, either in the ground or in a pot. Choose a location with morning sun or partial shade. Place them in well-drained, fertile, moist soil without excessive moisture. Water moderately (it cannot tolerate excess water!) and apply fertiliser frequently for intense flowering. Begonias can be susceptible to powdery mildew. This is a tender plant, so it cannot withstand freezing temperatures. For this reason, it is often grown in containers that can easily be moved into a greenhouse or heated conservatory at the first sign of frost. If the begonia is planted in the ground, it can be dug up and stored in a sheltered spot until the following spring.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
