Description
Delicate Blue Felicia is one of the few daisy-like flowers that is completely adorned in blue, both in its heart and collar. It is a jewel to cherish in a white and blue garden.
Felicia heterophylla, also known as Agathaea or Cape Marquerite, is an Asteraceae whose typical variety comes from South Africa where it is endemic. It naturally grows in dunes or sandy terrain. It is a herbaceous perennial with semi-evergreen foliage, cultivated in our latitudes as an annual because it is not hardy.
The Delicate Blue Felicia stands out from other Felicias in that its flowering is completely blue. The inflorescences measure 3 to 5cm (1.2 - 2 in) in diameter. The outer florets are sapphire blue and the central disc is powdered lapis lazuli, sometimes with a silvery grey of the anthers. The mature plants take the form of a large bush that blooms from July to September. At the end of flowering, the seeds are topped with silky egret plumes that will be dispersed by the wind. Its sage green foliage is alternately arranged on a pubescent stem.
These are sun-loving plants that thrive in light, well-draining soils, preferably dry. They will look stunning in containers or when paired with Veronica 'Georgia Blue' or Euphorbia 'Diamond Frost' to dress up blue rock gardens.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
