The Salvia nemorosa 'Sensation White' is a compact variety of bush sage with a particularly generous white flowering in summer. It forms wider than tall clumps and produces wide and densely packed flower spikes above aromatic green foliage. It is a robust and undemanding perennial plant that adapts to various growing conditions. Very attractive at the front of borders, it easily reblooms during the season and can also be grown in a pot on a balcony or terrace.
The Salvia nemorosa 'Sensation White' is a perennial from the family of lamiaceae or labiates. It is a horticultural creation derived from a species native to central Europe and western Asia commonly known as wood sage. Its adult size will not exceed 30-35 cm (12-14in) in height and 40-45 cm (16-18in) in width. This perennial develops from a prostrate rosette of ovate, rough, dark green leaves with dentate edges. It has a bushy, highly branched and sturdy habit. The flowering takes place from June to September, in terminal clusters composed of numerous small (0.5 to 1 cm (0in)) white flowers with green bracts. The beautiful dense and wide spikes, almost glistening, and laden with nectar-rich flowers, succeed each other throughout the summer. They delight bees and butterflies.
This 'Sensation White' wood sage has the advantage of flowering until late summer if faded inflorescences are removed and the soil does not dry out too much. This plant can withstand anything, even wind, cold, heat and poor soils. It will be superb in the company of ground cover or landscape roses, bushy salvias and cotton lavenders along pathways or borders. It also pairs perfectly with easy-going perennial Geraniums like 'Rozanne' or 'Blue Cloud'.
With over 900 species of annuals, perennials, and softwooded shrubs distributed all over the globe, except in very cold regions and tropical forests, the genus Salvia is the richest in the lamiaceae family. The name Salvia, dating back to Roman times, derives from the Latin salvus 'healthy' alluding to the medicinal properties of common sage.

Botanical data
The Salvia nemorosa 'Sensation White' should be planted from October to March, excluding freezing periods, with a spacing of 40 cm (16in) in a well-drained, even rocky soil, in full sun. This plant tolerates some drought. It does not appreciate heavy and waterlogged soils in winter, which can harm its hardiness. In winter, add some compost, well-decomposed manure or other organic matter. Cut it back to 30 cm (12in) at the end of winter before the start of vegetation. Beware of gastropods that can attack young shoots. In humid regions, use a mineral mulch (gravel, pumice, pebbles) with a thickness of 4 to 6 cm (2in) to drain the neck of the plant. Under these conditions, it can withstand temperatures down to -30°C (-22°F). To preserve the vitality of the sage, it is advisable to divide the plant after three years. Plant the new plants in well-worked soil: to improve slightly poor soil, mix in some horticultural compost.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
