Description

The 'Lilac Perfection' double Tulip is indeed a tulip, but it is a fabulous peony-like trompe l'oeil. The variegated blue-violet ball-shaped flower with white is a charming imposture. Its flowers open in May. This late blooming characteristic is perfect for prolonging the interest of your spring beds.

Mix them with other tulips and bulbs or insert them into perennial beds to ensure the transition between spring and summer flowering. They will also look great in pots or planters to beautify balconies and terraces. They are also good cut flowers.

Planting and care

Plant your double 'Lilac Perfection' tulips as soon as possible in a well-drained soil. Loosen the soil deeply. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6in) (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs a few cm apart, making sure they don't touch each other. Choose a sunny exposure for better flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stalks and let the leaves dry completely before cutting them. After flowering, their foliage becomes unsightly and we recommend planting Heucheras, Tiarelles, Brunneras, Bleeding Hearts, Cypress Spurge in the foreground of your flower beds. Their foliage will enhance the colours of your tulips and during the season, they will elegantly conceal their yellowed leaves.
