Tulipa Apricot Pride - Darwin Hybrid Tulip

The 'Apricot Pride' Tulip is a Darwin hybrid tulip that offers a very large diaphanous flower in pale apricot colour, touched with pink, very long-lasting in a vase and in the garden. It is a variety with strong, weather-resistant stems. It blooms in late April. Plant it in small groups in a border or in a romantic or English-style bed. It is also a top-quality flower for cutting.

The 'Apricot Pride' Darwin hybrid tulip (also known as 'Zantubeau') was introduced in the Netherlands in 2003. It belongs to the Liliaceae family. Of horticultural origin, it is currently classified in Division 4, whose main characteristics are large single, oval flowers appearing in the middle of the season, carried by long weather-resistant stems. Tulips in this group are the most cultivated for the cut flower trade. Originally derived from cross-breeding with botanical species such as T. fosteriana, they show no signs of their wild ancestry. 'Apricot Pride' reaches a height of 45 to 50 cm when in bloom. Carried by strong stems, well above the glaucous, broadly lanceolate leaves, its large flowers are cup-shaped, slightly fringed at the edges. Their colour is a range of very pale orange, cream, and pink, enhanced by the slightly waxy and iridescent texture of the petals. Flowering takes place in late April in medium climates, sometimes early May. Each flower lives for several days before wilting.

The 'Apricot Pride' Tulip finds its place in borders, large beds, and of course in bouquets. Its pastel colours blend perfectly with pink or violet flowers. Pair it with tulips 'Burgundy', 'Flaming Prince', and 'Havran', for example, among lady's mantles and 'Baby Charm' spurge, and you will create stunning scenes. It can be planted in flower beds as well as in pots and containers. This tulip beautifully enhances balconies and terraces. It pairs perfectly with tall perennials and is ideal for creating elegant bouquets. When using it in a vase, use very little water, just a little at the bottom is enough! Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase each day.
