Description

Planting and care
Sow the Extra Double Mix Large-flowered Purslane from February to April in a seed tray. Use good quality compost, sieved on the surface to ensure good contact between the seed and its substrate. Before sowing, lightly firm the compost using a small board. Sow your seeds by broadcasting. Cover the seeds by sprinkling compost or vermiculite over them, lightly firm and water thoroughly with a fine spray. Place your seed tray in the light, but out of direct sunlight, at a temperature of 18 to 21°C. Lower the temperature at night to around 16°C to create a beneficial alternation for germination.
Seed germination will take 7 to 14 days. As soon as the young plants are manageable, transplant them into 7 cm pots. Keep the compost moist, but not waterlogged, during growth. Then, 15 days before their final planting out, begin to acclimatise them gradually to a temperature of 15°C.
After the last frosts, you can install your young plants outdoors, in the ground or in containers. Choose a location in full sun. Add a good spadeful of compost to each planting hole. Space your plants 30 cm apart.
Regularly remove faded flowers to maintain their beauty and encourage the production of new flowers.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
