Pelargonium Double Apricot Salmon Orange - Ivy Geranium
Beautiful pelargoniums arrived as plug plants and transplanted into 10cm buckets upon arrival. They all grew well, however, the advertised apricot double colour turned out to be bright red and single. The most important thing is the excellent quality.

The Pelargonium x peltatum 'Double Apricot Salmon Orange' is a lovely variety of trailing geranium, generous and easy to grow, that will work wonders in containers, window boxes, and hanging baskets. On its flexible stems adorned with shiny, dark green leaves, clusters of double flowers in an unusual shade, between salmon pink and dark pink-orange, bloom continuously from spring until the first frost, transforming the plant into a beautiful flowering cascade.
This geranium is a cross between Pelargonium x peltatum, also known as Pelargonium x hederaefolium or ivy-leaved geranium. It is a tender perennial plant from the geranium family, originally from South Africa. This hybrid is characterised by a trailing or cascading habit, with long stems adorned with shiny, lobed leaves that can persist through winter if the plant is kept frost-free. Not very hardy (up to -4°C (24.8°F)), ivy-leaved geraniums are often grown as annuals in our climate.
This 'Double Apricot Salmon Orange' variety, of medium vigour, forms a bushy semi-trailing clump measuring about 20 cm (8in) in height and 40 cm (16in) in diameter in just a few weeks. Its leaves are circular, leathery, palmate, with pointed lobes, shiny, and their colour changes from light green when they emerge to dark green at maturity. The long and abundant flowering renews from April-May until the first frost, with a peak in July-August. The flowers are round, fully double, and of a good size. They are gathered in small clusters.
Ivy-leaved geraniums are generous and undemanding plants, perfect for decorating pots throughout most of the year. Plant them in mass, combining different colours, to create a lasting and cheerful display throughout the summer. These plants are used to cascade from a planter, a raised pot, or a hanging basket, or as ground cover in flower beds, where they tolerate water shortage very well. Depending on the preferences of each gardener, ivy-leaved geraniums can be paired with verbenas, lobelias in unheard-of blues, morning glories, Million Bells, Madagascar periwinkles, Dichondra 'Silver Falls', bidens, or even diascias, for example.
Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them in a sheltered place (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before they can be planted outdoors once the risk of frost has definitively passed.

Botanical data
You can plant your 'Double Apricot Salmon Orange' geraniums in open ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in open ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed. In the meantime, you can cultivate them in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth.
The geraniums will flower for a long period. Plant them in a sunny or partially shaded position, sheltered from strong winds. They need a light and humus-rich soil, but above all well-draining, as they tolerate water shortage quite well but not stagnant humidity. Do not water them too much at the beginning of the growing season as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during hot summer periods. Geraniums are susceptible to frost (minimum -4°C).
Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid geranium fertiliser once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking attractive and prolong flowering.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
