Columnar Apple Tree Rondo - Malus domestica

The  Rondo® Columnar Apple Tree is a compact, space-saving, and decorative bush. This apple tree is suitable for orchards, small gardens, or even terraces as it thrives in containers. Rondo fruits are yellow marbled with red when ripe. The juicy and crunchy flesh has a well-balanced, aromatic flavour. Harvest takes place in October.

The apple tree is a native tree in Europe, especially in France, where its presence has been documented since ancient times. Columnar apple trees are selected for their vertical growth, reduced to only their trunk, without any scaffold branches. This unique silhouette makes them perfect for small spaces, whether in the ground, containers, or large pots. They are also highly decorative and create a distinctive ambiance with their architectural appearance. It's worth mentioning that in spring, they transform into long bouquets of flowers. Another advantage of these amazing fruit trees is that they do not require pruning. The Rondo® Columnar Apple Tree is an improvement on earlier varieties and is resistant to the most common forms of apple scab.

Abundant flowering occurs between March and April, and it is not affected by spring frosts. The tree itself is completely hardy.  Being self-sterile like many other apple trees, Rondo requires the presence of another variety nearby for pollination. If you lack space and your neighbours do not have an apple tree, choose another columnar apple tree, such as Rhapsodie® or Ballerina® 'Maypole', but a regular apple tree like 'Reine des Reinettes' is an excellent pollinator. Harvest occurs quite late in the season, in October. The fruits do not store very well but can wait until December or even January to be consumed if you find a suitable place for them: a cool, well-ventilated room where you can store them on shelves or in crates.

Rondo® apples are large in size, yellow marbled with red. They are aromatic fruits with a balanced sugar and acidity content. They are good both raw and cooked, making them versatile.
