Hydrangea Rembrandt® 'Vibrant Verde' belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family and bears the name 'HORE0046'. It is a protected variety under the Rembrandt® breeding programme initiated by the Dutch nurseryman Lendert de Vos B.V. This variety is part of a premium collection of compact hydrangeas (about 1m tall) with strong stems and dynamic blooms that evolve over 4 weeks during the summer. Their flowering lasts more than 3 months. The shrub has a bushy, rounded and well-balanced habit. It reaches approximately 1m tall and 0.8–1m wide in the ground. The foliage is deciduous in winter, consisting of broad ovate leaves (10 to 15cm long), dark green and glossy with finely toothed margins. It provides an elegant, verdant backdrop even outside the flowering period. The mophead-type inflorescences are globose, 15 to 20cm in diameter heads composed of numerous decorative sterile flowers with a thick texture. The flowers open bright pistachio green, then their centre turns pink, while the edges slowly develop towards red. The stems are strong enough to support the flower heads.

Description
Hydrangea macrophylla Rembrandt® Vibrant Verde is a variety with shifting green and pink tones throughout the summer. Its globose inflorescences emerge in pistachio green, gradually become enriched with medium green and pink, then colour to a dark pink tinged with red at the end of the season. Nicely rounded, floriferous, with strong stems, this hydrangea can be grown in pots as well as in the ground. It thrives in partial shade and offers a long-lasting, colourful presence in the garden as well as in a vase.
Lovely verdant ball, blushed with pink and red, Hydrangea 'Vibrant Verde' is a fresh-looking variety to brighten up partially shaded corners of the garden. In a low hedge, it pairs happily with other compact hydrangeas such as Magical® Revolution Pink or Magical® Ruby Tuesday. It can be combined with hardy fuchsias such as Fuchsia magellanica 'Riccartonii' or its white form molinae, whose fine, pendulous bells contrast with its ball-shaped flowers. To complete the scene, a Pieris japonica 'Little Heath', evergreen and variegated, will bring light to the background, even outside the flowering period.
Note: The colour of Hydrangea macrophylla flowers varies according to the pH of the soil. Traditionally blue varieties turn pink in neutral or alkaline soil. To maintain a beautiful blue colour, mix acidic soil or peat with your garden soil and apply aluminium sulphate (slate contains it) or alum stone each spring.

Planting and care
Plant hydrangea macrophylla Rembrandt Vibrant Verde in spring or early autumn, preferably in a partially shaded position, for example against an east-facing wall, or even a north-facing one. It tolerates morning sun well and needs shelter from cold, drying winds. It does not necessarily require acidic soil, which is poor, but appreciates a deep, humus-rich, moist yet well-drained soil, possibly enriched with a good fertiliser before planting. If the soil at the base of the wall is dry, position the root ball at least 30 to 40 cm away and incorporate well-rotted compost to help retain moisture in the soil. It is very hardy, suitable for cold regions.
