Our selection of easy summer bulbs. These plants are robust and undemanding, rewarding you with generous and regular flowering. They will be perfect for beginner gardeners, as well as for more experienced enthusiasts looking for simplicity.

Dahlia ‘Bishop of Llandaff’ is colourful and generous, a good example of the bulbs, corms, tubers or rhizomes to be planted in spring to flower in summer, in borders and pots. Crocosmia (montbretia) ‘Lucifer’ establishes without difficulty, coming back year after year and progressively forming floriferous clumps, only needing a tidy up of dry stems. Lily ‘Navona’ is easy to grow in well-drained soil: it flowers on sturdy stems and does not need pruning, only soil that does not remain waterlogged. Canna ‘Durban’ flowers easily in rich, watered soil: its vigorous rhizome will need to be wintered indoors away from frost.

Plant summer bulbs after frosts, in the sun, in loose, fertile and well-drained soil; in cold climates, some (dahlias, cannas) need to be dug up or protected in winter.
