Description

The Anthurium veitchii 'Narrow', nicknamed the king of Anthuriums, comes in two forms: broad and narrow. Here, we present the latter, with narrow green leaves, which can still reach up to 1 m in length. They are also more undulate, with a beautiful leathery texture, striate along the veins. The foliage is spectacular, unfurling on very long petioles and offering erect or trailing leaves, always facing forward. A favourite among collectors, it is perfect for contemporary or tropical settings, fitting seamlessly into a bright living room or conservatory. To encourage its flourishing, place it in a spot with bright, indirect light and maintain high ambient humidity.

Belonging to the Araceae family, the Anthurium veitchii 'Narrow' is a perennial with an upright habit, typically reaching between 75 cm and 1 m in height and spread. Its growth is moderate, gradually developing large, elongated, leathery leaves measuring up to 1 m in length. These very narrow, long leaves are veined and ribbed, with a plicate width. Though subtle, flowering can occur at any time of the year, producing a white or pink spathe accompanied by a spadix.

Native to the humid tropical forests of Colombia, this epiphytic species grows naturally on trees in mountainous rainforests at around 1,000 m altitude, thriving in dappled light and constant humidity. These natural conditions indicate its need for indirect light, high humidity, and a well-draining substrate for successful indoor cultivation.

The Anthurium veitchii 'Narrow' is a stunning botanical specimen that commands attention and will enhance contemporary, tropical, or even minimalist décors as a focal point. Placed on a shelf in a bright living room or conservatory, this plant will captivate with its graphic foliage, bringing an exotic yet refined atmosphere. Showcase it as a standalone piece or integrate it into your tropical jungle with jungle-effect houseplants.
