Calathea ornata Beauty Star - Peacock plant

Calathea 'Beauty Star', commonly known as the peacock plant, is an ornamental, bright, and colourful variety. Its glossy, lanceolate leaves feature a dark green or medium green surface, depending on the leaf. They are striped with white, sometimes slightly tinged with pink, on a vibrant green background. The leaves become more elongated with age. Calatheas are of tropical origin and can bring a lot of exoticism and colour to your interior. Suitable for all interiors, this variety enhances a bohemian-style space just as well as a plant enthusiast's jungle.

Belonging to the Marantaceae family, Calathea ornata (synonymous with Goeppertia ornata) originates from the humid forests of the Amazon, where it thrives under the dense canopy. The 'Beauty Star' variety is a cultivar selected for its splendid foliage. Its elongated leaves display patterns in various shades of green, as well as streaks ranging from white to pink. It prefers indirect, filtered light, as direct sunlight may scorch its delicate leaves. It should be kept away from south-facing windows and thrives in north-facing exposure. To maintain its health, temperatures should not drop below 15°C. Additionally, like other calatheas, its leaves fold up at night, a curious phenomenon known as nastic movement.
