These epiphytic species, which naturally grow on trees in humid forests, have passed on to this cultivar a preference for a humid environment. Guzmania 'Calypso' captivates with its bright red floral bracts that emerge from the centre of an elegant rosette of green, glossy leaves. These bracts, often mistaken for flowers, are actually modified leaves surrounding the true flowers, which are small and short-lived, typically appearing in spring or summer depending on growing conditions. Easy to care for, the plant reaches a height of 45 to 50 cm with a spread of 40 cm at maturity. Ensure it is placed in a spot with bright but indirect light and maintain a high ambient humidity to replicate its natural habitat. It prefers moderate temperatures between 18 and 27°C.
