Description

Philodendron 'Malay Gold' is a houseplant with golden-green foliage that brings a beautiful luminosity to your decor. Easy to grow with a little care, this climbing variety thrives in bright spaces without direct sunlight and in a not-too-dry atmosphere. With proper support, it will unfurl its elegant stems, adding height to your interior.

Philodendron 'Malay Gold', also marketed as Philodendron 'Golden Goddess' or Philodendron 'Lemon Lime', is a perennial climbing plant from the Araceae family. Although the breeder and the exact date of this cultivar's introduction are not well-documented, it is known to have been developed in Thailand, where it is widely cultivated for its exceptional ornamental qualities. 'Malay Gold' is characterised by long, slender, ovate leaves in a vibrant golden-yellow hue, which turn greener with maturity, reaching up to 20 cm in length. Smooth and glossy, they beautifully catch the light. The stems are slightly pinkish. With a fairly rapid growth, this variety typically reaches between 1.2 and 2 m in height indoors, with a spread of around 40-50 cm. Its long climbing stems, equipped with aerial roots, allow it to easily cling to vertical supports such as stakes or trellises. Without support, when planted in a hanging pot, its foliage will cascade gracefully, reminiscent of the naturally epiphytic growth of philodendrons in the tropical forests of Central and South America. Toxic due to its calcium oxalate content, it should be kept out of reach of children and pets.

Philodendron 'Malay Gold' is perfect for a bright and warm interior. A moss pole will enhance its climbing habit and encourage vertical development. Pair it, for example, with a Monstera adansonii and an Epipremnum aureum 'Neon', two plants with complementary foliage that share the same requirements in terms of light and humidity.
