Description

The Philodendron Jungle selloum x goeldii, named after its two parent species, is a hybrid variety with a unique appearance, combining the characteristics of both species. The triangular-shaped leaves are large and deeply lobed. They are glossy, dark green, and give the plant a distinctly tropical look. Rare in cultivation, this "philo" fits perfectly into exotic, "jungle" settings or as part of a collection.

Belonging to the Araceae family, the Philodendron 'Jungle' clearly shows its lineage. It originates from two species native to the humid forests of South America. Both P. selloum (syn. P. bipinnatifidum) and P. goeldii produce very large, exotic-looking, deeply lobed leaves. At maturity, this cultivar likely reaches a height of 1 m to 1.50 m with a similar spread. Data is scarce due to its rarity in cultivation. The leaves, with a highly glossy texture and vibrant green colour, are triangular and can grow up to 50 cm or more in length. Although flowering indoors is rare, when it occurs, it produces the typical discreet inflorescences of the Araceae family. It thrives in ambient humidity levels between 60% and 80% with good light exposure. Like many philodendrons, its sap can be irritating. Keep the plant out of reach of young children and pets.

The Philodendron Jungle selloum x goeldii makes a stunning centrepiece for any collection. To enhance its aesthetic appeal, pair it with plants that have similar requirements, such as Monsteras, Alocasias, or Syngoniums, which are also members of the Araceae family.
