The Philodendron 'Pink Princess' is a plant from the Araceae family. It is an exceptional hybrid cultivar developed by Bob Mc Colley in the 1970s. Its presumed parents are the Philodendron erubescens and P. hastatum. It is a climbing plant with a relatively fast growth, which can reach up to 1.50 m in height in a large pot, with a spread of 1 m, depending on growing conditions. Its highly decorative red stems comprise brown aerial roots. Its heart-shaped, smooth leaves of a satin-like texture can measure up to 20 cm long and 12 cm wide. The lamina display irregular marbling in bubblegum pink, a feature that adds to its charm and makes it so sought-after. Each leaf is unique with varying patterns and shades. The majority exhibit random marbling ranging from bubblegum pink to pastel pink, while others are almost entirely green, and some completely pink. The green here varies from dark to almost black or purplish on certain leaves. This plant is toxic to animals and humans if ingested, due to the presence of calcium oxalates, so it should be kept out of thr reach of children and pets.
