The oriental hellebore, also known as Helleborus orientalis, is a perennial plant that has a wide range of colours. The flowers, whether single, double, or even triple, come in various shades of red, white, yellow, black, orange, and sometimes speckled, maculated, or highlighted with an additional colour. The flowers bloom from February to April depending on the climatic conditions. They have palmate basal leaves, slightly dentate, of dark green and shiny colour. These are evergreen leaves, 30 to 40cm (12 to 16in) long, composed of 7 to 9 leaflets that regenerate in spring. Of medium size, these hellebores reach a height of 30 to 40cm (12 to 16in) and a width of about 30cm (12in) at maturity. They are very hardy plants that can withstand temperatures as low as -15°C (5°F) or even -20°C (-4°F) when planted in a sheltered location. Easy to grow, they thrive in shade or partial shade in any rich, moist, and well-draining soil.

You'll adore them!
