Planting and care

Essential perennial plants for heavy soil. Although they can be grown in almost any type of soil, they are incomparable in moist and rich soil, even clay. Perfectly hardy, never sick, faithfully flowering whether they are divided often or not at all and with a great diversity of sizes. We love them and they are so well adapted to our region that we have gathered over 1000 varieties in our garden, constituting one of the largest collections in Europe. Hybrids are legion and Americans must also love them as they produce countless new varieties every year. Some have evergreen foliage, others, the "tetraploids", have large round flowers in a wide range of colours, but they are missing one thing...the colour blue!
