Red alstroemerias are Inca lilies that flower in shades from bright red to light red. Their flowers are rarely plain: a few brown streaks or a contrasting throat are part of the charm of this perennial. Short or tall, depending on the variety, they blaze in pots, borders and summer bouquets.

‘Inticancha Red’ is one of the purest red varieties: dark red, satiny, discreetly speckled, its flowers emerge on a low clump about 35 cm tall. In the ground, ‘Duc d’Anjou Louis’ reaches nearly 50 cm and displays a coral red washed with orange, bright without being truly multicoloured. Taller still, ‘Garden Summer Red’ forms a clump about 70 cm high, useful in borders for its deep pink-red and good hardiness. 'Majestic Liré’, which reaches 80 cm, with its long stems and intensely red flowers with yellow hearts, is suitable for cut flower arrangements and back-of-border positions.
