Well, in the end, the bulbs have bloomed, but it wasn't the pink variety, but rather a hybrid called 'red prince' apparently ^^'

Description

Cyrtanthus 'Pink Diamond' is a rare floriferous Amaryllis with bright apricot pink flowers, just as vigorous as its parent, Cyrtanthus elatus.

In July, Cyrtanthus 'Pink Diamond' forms a rosette of dark green, ribbon-like, arching leaves and develops a long rounded stem (about 50cm (20in)) topped with 5 to 8 flowers measuring about ten centimetres. These trumpet-shaped flowers are bright pink with a slight apricot hue. The bulbs produce bulblets every year, which grow quickly and will flower in turn, eventually filling the pot.

Originating from South Africa, this amaryllis is susceptible to frost. Growing it in a pot is preferable, using a mix of one-third garden soil, compost (or good potting soil), peat, and sand. Indoors, place the pot near a south-facing window or in a conservatory, and outdoors, in full sun.

Tip: Apply tomato fertilizer at the beginning of the flowering period. The high potassium content promotes flower development.

Planting and care

Cyrtanthus 'Pink Diamond' should be planted in a pot at the beginning of spring. Bury the bulbs three-quarters of the way in a mixture of compost, peat, and sand in equal parts. Place in a very bright location indoors or on a balcony during the summer. Water moderately in spring and summer, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Apply liquid fertilizer every 15 days and tomato fertilizer at the beginning of flowering. This Cyrtanthus does not like to be disturbed, so repot only every 4 years. In winter, stop watering and fertilizing as soon as the foliage has withered, except to prevent the bulbs from drying out completely. Place the pot at a temperature of 10°C (50°F) for rest.
