As I mentioned when I received my order (without any response from you since then!), the plants were in very bad condition. I can confirm that they will never grow!! I am therefore very disappointed. I have lost 31.50 euros! I will not be ordering from you again.

Description

The Alstromere Inticancha® Navajo is a new variety of Inca Lily that will not disappoint. Particularly robust, floriferous and compact, the plant forms a covered ball of flowers from June to October, beautiful like lilies with a mauve color enhanced by a touch of pale white-mauve streaked with brown-red. They are carried by very strong low stems that withstand the weather well. This perennial plant, not very hardy, is easy to grow as an annual and really requires very little maintenance. It is simply perfect in flower pots. It will thrive in partial shade or in the sun, in a light soil, not too dry.

The Alstroemeria Inticancha® Navajo is part of a series of recent hybrids, resulting from the cross-breeding of several tuberous species native to South America, and in particular the Chilean Andes. These high-altitude plants belonging to the amaryllidaceae family are more or less hardy, appreciate fresh, well-drained soil in a light and cool wooded area. Slow to establish themselves, they can disappear or become invasive! Quirky but fantastic plants, very sensitive to growing conditions, they are "indestructible" once you have found the right spot for them.

The 'Navajo' variety, like almost all the plants in the Inticancha® series, is particularly compact and easy to grow in good horticultural soil. The plant quickly forms bushy clumps made up of leafy stems reaching 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16in) in height when flowering, with a spread of 30 cm (12in). Flowering takes place continuously from June to October-November. The flowers, very open, are gathered in terminal umbels. They are composed of 3 small central petals, streaked with violet-brown, surrounded by 3 larger petals, a pretty almost uniform mauve. The center of the flower has yellow stamens. Each plant can produce at least 30 flowers. The foliage is arranged on the upper part of the stems. The leaves of this variety are medium green-blue in color. The foliage and stems disappear in winter, leaving only the trailing stump with fleshy roots that can withstand frost down to -5/-8°C. The latter is sensitive to the shock of transplantation, especially in older plants.

The Alstroemeria 'Inticancha® 'Navajo' is a superb variety for ornamental flower pots and cut flowers. On the terrace or balcony, it forms a flower bouquet that rivals the brilliance of balcony geraniums. In a flower bed, this plant will blend well, for example, with other varieties of the Inticancha series (Indigo, Bryce, Maya), as well as with complementary grasses; Stipa, small Miscanthus or Muhlenbergia capillaris will accompany its colours with their beautiful foliage and magnificent late-season blooms. You can also plant Ceratostigma plumbaginoides at its feet, with intense blue flowers and red foliage in October. A marvel!

Note: Attention, our young plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C for a few weeks before they are installed outdoors once the risk of frost is definitively eliminated.

Planting and care

The Inticancha Alstroemerias are planted in spring, choosing a location in the morning sun or partial shade, in a light, well-drained, well-worked soil, with a tendency to be sandy or loamy and not too chalky, neutral to slightly acidic, and not too fertile. While they appreciate coolness to support their flowering, they adapt quite well to dry soils in summer. These plants are somewhat hardy, down to -5 or -8°C (23 or 17.6°F), if the soil remains dry in winter. The stump can be protected with a thick mulch of leaves or fern fronds in autumn. Slugs love young shoots; make sure to protect them. Growing them in pots allows for sheltering the plants from frost by storing them in a bright, well-ventilated, and minimally heated area.
