Planting and care

Crocosmia Okavango thrives both in the sun and partial shade. Place it in well-drained, loose, moist soil, but the plant dislikes excessive winter moisture. Plant this crocosmia at a depth of 10 cm (4in) in spring. Work the soil thoroughly during planting and, if necessary, incorporate some sand. Apply fertiliser at planting time and again every spring. Mulch it during the first winter and extended periods of frost. To encourage lots of flowers, divide the clump every 3-4 years. While they prefer well-drained soil in winter, crocosmias require plenty of water during their growing season.
