Anthémis Daisy Crazy Sole Mio

Argyranthemum frutescens 'Sole Mio' belongs to the plants that are generally grouped under the name of chrysanthemum. It forms a particularly ramified and compact small shrub, covered with a multitude of beautiful golden yellow daisies. Flowering from June to October, its flowers appear above a beautiful, finely cut blue-green foliage. Not very hardy, this fast-growing perennial plant is cultivated as an annual, in sunny and well-drained soil. Easy to grow, it is an ideal variety for large flowering pots, but also for rock gardens or borders.

Argyranthemum frutescens is a woody and tender perennial native to the Canary Islands, belonging to the Asteraceae family. The Daisy Crazy series is commonly grown as an annual. They are beautiful ornamentals, with their long flowering period, dense and compact habit, and ease of cultivation. The 'Sole Mio' selection will reach 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16in) in all directions. It grows quickly. The flowering, very abundant, takes place from June to October, even more generously if you regularly remove faded flowers. The flowers resemble small daisies, with a particularly wide centre in intense golden yellow. Around it, there are wide and rounded peripheral ray florets in pale yellow, butter yellow to cream. The stems are highly branched, with bipinnatilobate leaves, composing a very abundant and decorative foliage, blue-green, aromatic when crushed, and very light in appearance. It is evergreen in frost-free areas. Argyranthemum frutescens is hardy down to -3/-4°C (26.6/24.8°F).

Incredibly sun-loving, Argyranthemum frutescens plants particularly fear excess moisture in winter. In areas unaffected by frost, plant them in ordinary, well-drained soil, slightly acidic, neutral, or strongly alkaline. Forming delightful rounded and fully blooming clumps in no time, the 'Sole Mio' Chrysanthemum looks stunning alongside fennels, perennial flax, borage, cosmos, or blue and white nigellas. It can be very useful for starting a brand new garden, after construction work. It can be planted in rustic flower beds with Asphodeline lutea, Asclepias tuberosa, but also in more manicured beds, rock gardens, stair borders, or at the bend of a path in a steep garden. And of course, it offers a fantastic spectacle in flowering pots, accompanied by Dichondra ‘Silver Falls’, silver basket, Begonia sempervirens, Ageratums, or dwarf snapdragons, on the patio or balcony.
