Description
The Belleconia Mango Begonia enhances the excellent series of trailing Begonias Belleconia with its lovely orange colour. This variety produces large double flowers in a warm and soft salmon-orange colour throughout the beautiful season. They bloom for 3 to 4 months on a plant that is both bushy and trailing, making it perfect for hanging baskets. In addition to its ornamental qualities, it is a heat-resistant variety that is easy to grow in partial shade or shade, requiring very little maintenance: the faded flowers eliminate themselves.
The 'Belleconia Mango' Begonia is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the begonia family. This variety is part of a series of recent hybrids, selected for their naturally compact and branched trailing habit, their floribundance, their imposing and double flowers, as well as their great resilience. The plants quickly reach a height of 30-40 cm (11.8 - 15.7 in) and cascade down to a height of 80 cm (31.5 in) to 1 m (3.3 ft). Their abundant and prolonged flowering period extends from June to September, despite the heat and bad weather. Their elegant flowers, 5 cm (2 in) wide, are fully double and composed of many small petals that form like a pompom on a row of larger petals. The plant also produces some simple and smaller flowers in a light salmon colour. The elegant leaves have a triangular elongated shape, with dentate edges, and are dark green, sometimes tinged with copper. The Belleconia begonias appreciate partial shade and morning sun, they tolerate rainy and cool summers as well as heatwaves, which do not prevent them from blooming abundantly if they are regularly watered. With these 'Belleconia' begonias, the faded flowers naturally fall off.
The Belleconia Mango Begonia is ideal for partial shade, both in the garden and in pots. It can be used in troughs, balcony planters, or hanging baskets, alone or mixed with other varieties in large hanging baskets. Begonias also thrive in well-maintained flower beds, alongside lighter flowers. Finally, it is good to know that there are hardy begonias, such as the Begonia grandis.
Note: Please be aware that our young plants in mini-pots are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them in a sheltered place (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C for a few weeks before being placed outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care
Plant your Belleconia begonias after the last heavy frosts, in the ground or in a pot. Choose a location in the morning sun or partial shade. They are placed in a well-drained, fertile soil, moist but not excessive. Water moderately (they do not tolerate excess water!) and feed regularly for intense flowering. Begonias can be susceptible to powdery mildew. They are frost-tender, so they do not tolerate negative temperatures. For this reason, they are often cultivated in containers that can be easily brought indoors into heated greenhouses or conservatories at the first frost. If the begonia is in the ground, it's time to remove it and store it in a sheltered place until the following spring.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
