Calibrachoa Can-Can Rosies Pink Vein - Double Mini Petunia

The Calibrachoa 'Can-Can Rosies Pink Vein' produces countless small 100% double, funnel-shaped, delicately veined flowers in dark pink on a soft pink background. This sturdy annual plant forms pretty dense and flowering clumps in one season from spring to the first frosts. Not demanding in water and sunlight, neat and almost maintenance-free, it is an essential plant for hanging baskets as well as borders. Provide it with fertile and well-drained soil.

Calibrachoa, sometimes called Million Bells, are tender perennial plants often grown as annuals. Very similar to Petunias, they differ in their smaller flowers and less vigorous growth, and they tolerate drought better. The hybrids that make up this group all belong to the solanaceae family (like tomatoes) and probably descend from an Argentinian species called Petunia integrifolia. The improved 'Can-Can' series stands out for its dense and low-spreading habit, good resistance to drought, and flowers that remain open even in overcast weather.

The variety 'Can-Can Rosies Pink Vein' quickly forms an initially taller than wide mound, 40 to 50 cm (1 ft 4" to 1 ft 8") in height and 30 to 40 cm (1 ft- 1ft 4") in diameter. It then spreads through its flexible and branched stems covered along their entire length with small lanceolate, evergreen, velvety and slightly sticky leaves of a medium green colour. The tireless flowering takes place from June to the first frosts. Numerous small double trumpet-shaped flowers bloom in the axil of the leaves; they are 3 to 4 cm (1.2-1.6 in) wide, and formed of a small corolla of creased petals arranged in the centre of a larger fusiform corolla. Unlike Petunias, these Calibrachoa do not need to be pruned during the season.

The Calibrachoa 'Can-Can Rosies Pink Vein' is ideal for hanging baskets, planters, or containers, but its drought tolerance and the excellent durability of its flowers in the shade also allow it to be used in open ground, where it forms very pretty borders. It can be planted alone or accompanied by 2 other varieties with complementary colours (mauve, pale blue, white), in troughs, flower pots, planters on terraces, balconies, or patios. They are also good conservatory plants. Their combination with verbenas, surfinia petunias, and nemesis is stunning. The choice is vast and allows for imagination and the tastes of every gardener, even inexperienced ones.
