Description
Calibrachoa MiniFamous® Uno Bakari, a miniature petunia, is a perfect balcony plant for filling window boxes and hanging baskets all summer long and beyond. Its small funnel-shaped corollas, strongly veined in reddish orange on a deep yellow background, form a fiery cushion that gracefully trails over the edges of containers. This calibrachoa offers almost continuous flowering, even in hot weather, provided it is watered regularly.
This Calibrachoa belongs to the Solanaceae family, like petunias, and is one of the many horticultural hybrids sold under the name Calibrachoa x hybrida. The wild species originate from South America, mainly southern Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.
MiniFamous® Uno Bakari is a cultivar from the MiniFamous® Uno series, known for its plants of medium vigour, early and abundant flowering, suitable for modest-sized pots and hanging baskets. Theoretically perennial in frost-free regions, this plant is normally used as an annual. It forms a dense cushion 20 to 25 cm tall, 25 to 30 cm wide, with fine, well-branched stems that can trail 30 to 40 cm in a hanging basket. The foliage consists of small, opposite, entire, oval to lanceolate leaves, 1 to 2 cm long, medium to dark green, slightly hairy and sometimes a little sticky. The particularly long flowering period extends from May until the frosts with appropriate care. The trumpet-shaped, 2 to 3 cm in diameter flowers have a narrow tube that flares into a corolla with five rounded lobes; the deep yellow throat is traversed by red to orange veins that extend into the petals; the petals are edged with pale pinkish or purplish tones. Unlike petunias, calibrachoas do not need pruning during the season.
Calibrachoa MiniFamous® Uno Bakari is ideal for hanging baskets, window boxes or pots. Drought-tolerant and naturally robust, it can also be used in the ground, where it forms remarkably colourful seasonal borders. Plant it alone or with other varieties in matching colours (white, red, orange, salmon), in bowls, pots and balcony boxes on the terrace or balcony. Calibrachoas are also good conservatory plants. They are perfect with Annual Verbenas, Delosperma and Nemesias.
The name Calibrachoa honours Antonio de la Cal y Bracho, a Mexican botanist and pharmacologist of the 19th century. Calibrachoas from the MiniFamous® series are now widely used in urban landscaping programmes. In the search for new balcony plant varieties, their bright colours and long-lasting flowering are highly praised.
Note: Attention, our plug plants are products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (conservatory, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C for a few weeks before being placed outdoors once all risk of frost has finally passed.

Planting and care
You can plant your Calibrachoas MiniFamous Uno Bakari in the ground or in pots. If you wish to place them in the ground, in soil enriched with potting compost, wait until the last frosts have passed. In the meantime, you can keep them in pots in a warm, bright place to accelerate their growth.
Plant them in a sunny position, sheltered from the wind. They need a light, humus-bearing, above all, well-drained soil, as they dislike stagnant water. Do not water them too much at the start of growth because they are somewhat sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during the hot summer spells, especially in pots. Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry. We advise feeding them with a liquid fertiliser for surfinias once or twice a week during the growing period.

It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
