Only one bucket is in bad condition, will it recover, I doubt.

Description

Impatiens Sunpatiens 'Compact Electric Orange' is a beautiful improvement of the Compact Orange variety, a denser plant offering a flowering of dazzling orange, a colour perfectly highlighted by its beautiful dark green foliage. This exceptional variety has another characteristic, that of accepting all exposures and adapting equally well to cool climates as well as hot regions of our country. Covered with flowers from June to the first frost, resistant to diseases and robust, it is a truly easy and generous plant to adopt without hesitation in a window box, in a nice pot on the terrace, or planted in a large border along a path or a wall.

The SunPatiens® of the Compact series are the result of hybridisation work that has allowed the development of resistant and floriferous plants from New Guinea Impatiens. Belonging to the Balsaminaceae family, they are perennials that are grown as annuals in our latitudes, as they will not withstand the first frost. However, they have many other assets, awarded in 2006 in Italy (among others, best bedding plant): they are robust, vigorous, and require no maintenance. Their compact, ball-shaped habit allows for a beautiful rounded effect without pruning, reaching a height of 40 cm (more in hot climates) and a minimum spread of 30 cm (11.8 in). Their numerous leaves are green and shiny, ovate in shape and ending in a point. From the end of spring, multiple flowers appear and renew themselves until autumn. They measure from 4 to 5 cm (1.6 - 2 in) in diameter and consist of five heart-shaped petals, widely spread. Their pure orange colour is particularly bright and sparkling. It coordinates with many other colours to create lively and joyful ensembles. It is also a plant with original characteristics: studies have shown that they have the ability to absorb harmful gases and lower the ambient temperature. They are therefore considered depolluting or purifying plants.

In containers on the terrace or in pots near entrances, 'SunPatiens® Compact Electric Orange' offer you floriferousness that withstands all tests without worry and almost no maintenance, except for regular watering during hot and dry periods. Preferring fresh and rich soils, they will nevertheless tolerate full sun exposure very well and will also accept a semi-shaded or even shaded situation. In groups, they quickly form colourful and imposing flower beds. Isolated, they will enhance the somewhat soft summer blooms. You can associate them with the Impatiens Sunpatiens Compact White, or Begonia Chardonnay for example.

Note: Please be aware that our young plants in mini-pots are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelter (veranda, greenhouse, frame...) at a temperature above 14C° for a few weeks before being installed outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care

The compact Electric Orange Sunpatiens Impatiens is easy to grow. It should be placed in full sun or partial shade. Plant it in the ground in spring from March to May, after the last frost as Impatiens cannot tolerate frost, for flowering from June until the first frost in October. To accelerate its growth, pre-cultivate it in a pot in a warm and bright place. Place the Impatiens in well-drained and humus-rich soil. Water it generously but be careful not to overwater. Pruning is not necessary. Very floriferous and fast-growing, it is hungry. Feed it with liquid fertiliser for containers once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep it looking beautiful and prolong flowering. Be careful, protect it from slugs that enjoy their young leaves, but otherwise the Sunpatiens Impatiens is disease-resistant.
